SOMEBODY’S WATCHING! With the new cameras in the school, security guards are able to constantly watch just about every move that is made.

What do people really think about the new security system at George Washington High School? What is the reason behind all of the cameras? Security guard, Rowland McLaughlin said, ”There are some places that we can’t be all the time, so the cameras are there for us.”

The cameras are located throughout the hallways. There are some in the cafeteria, they’re in the parking lots, and outside at the front of the school. However, there aren’t any in the bathrooms or any of the classrooms.

Is there anything that the school can use other than cameras? Nathan Daly, junior, said, “Instead of cameras, there should be more hall monitors, which is a lot less expensive.”

A lot of students do not like the new addition to the school. Megan Lakey, junior, said, “I feel that it is taking away the freedom of public schools, and that we should be more trusted by the school system.”

Leila Green, sophomore, said, “The air conditioning was a good addition; but the cameras are an invasion of our privacy.”

Chase Baily, senior, seems to agree with Green. Baily said, “They serve a good purpose, but they invade people’s privacy.”

Jessica Halnon, sophomore, said, “They are okay, but sometimes they are a violation to our privacy.” Amanda Gray, senior, said, “ I think that they are stupid because now I don’t feel like I have any privacy.”

Meredith Daly, sophomore, said, “ I don’t like them because it seems like they are watching every move you make.”

Gray, agrees with M. Daly; she said, “I feel like I can’t even pick a wedge out because everyone is watching me on the cameras.”

There are some students that agree with the new cameras. Emma Maddux, freshmen, said, “I think that they are a good addition to the school, and that they will prevent fights.” John Waggoner, junior, said, “I don’t mind them, but at first they were kind of weird.”

Cami Rudder, junior, said, “It’s nice to know that we are safe at school, but they are kind of hard to get used to.” STORY GOES HERE.
