Also, I'm hoping to get more some of Anne Marie's thesis typed
up. Here is a clip of one section.
ANNE MARIE'S THESIS CONTINUED
The ways in which this "given" of experience is looked upon
represent the fundamental categories of the mind. The function of the
mind is to organize in some way all that is directly found in the
world; the mind imposes its categories upon all that the senses
convey. Within the categorical framework of a mind are concepts of
"number," "shape," "and "size." These concepts are to be distinguished
from, for example, the concept of "red" or the concept of "soul" (the
latter representing concepts which may or may not be universally
shared). The mind orders what is in the world; and what is in the
world is pragmatically determined. (Ultimately, knowledge has a
pragmatic significance.) Lewis' assumptions regarding the
a priori structure of knowledge are as follows:
(1) That reality may be delimited a priori,
is due, not to forms of intuition or categories which confine the
contnet of experience, but simply to the fact that whatever is
denominated 'real' must be something discriminated in experience
by criteria which are antecendently determined.
(2) While the delineation of concepts is a priori,
the application of any particular to particular given experience
is hypothetical; the choice of conceptual systems for such
application is instrumental or pragmatic . . .
(3)That experience in general is such as to be capable of
conceptual interpretation, requires no peculiar and metaphysical
assumption about the conformity of experience to the mind or its
categories . . . .
The rationalist doctrine regarding the a priori
structure of knowledge does not, as Lewis interprets it, reduce
the world to a mental construct. The rationalist postulates
final truths; these are the antecedently determined truths of
reason. The empiricist postulates another set of truths, the
s0-called truths of fact, which are evidenced in experience of
the world. Lewis discovers he truth to lie midway between the
two doctrines.
2. There are truths knowable a priori.
a. The analytic, a priori, statment represents
a form of knowledge.
Analytic statements are to be distinquished from
empirical (synthetic) statements. Analytic statments are
a priori known truths. Our a priori known
truths are tautologies. We have only to examine our concepts
to determine whether or not what is expressed is true.
Analytic statements are, thus, subject to proof; in
determining their truth or falsity, we must test the
meaningfulness of our language.
b.Analytic statements express logical, necessary
truths.
In the class of analytic statements are
definitions, propositions of mathematics and logic, and
certain other formal statements. Lewis regards a priori
truths as truths "knowable independently of sense experience
[and] . . . determinable as true by reference to our
meanings." In any language there ar definitions and
propositions which express a priori truths. These
truths do not change with time; we cannot readily change
them by taking thought upon them. For example, "We know
that 'All squares are rectangles' because in envisaging the
test which a thing must satisfy if 'square' is to apply to
it, we observe that the test it must satisfy if 'rectangle'
is to apply is already included." The subject and predicate
terms are essentially connected. The relation is explained
as follows:
[The meaning of] 'All squares are rectangles' . . .
could not be determinied in entire independence of what
the constituent expressions 'square' and 'rectangle'
convey, but the fact of the relation expressed by
'Allt squares are rectangles' has no dependence upon our
conventions of expression or even on the existence of
language. No manner of devising a system of language
could afffect it, and no decision of ours could make it
otherwise than it is.
The statement "All squares are rectangles" represents an
analytic, a priori, truth. The subject term here
entails the predicate term. The statment as a whole is
known true by a simple act of reflection.
3. There is knowledge of objective fact, which is
imperfect knowledge of the world.
GOOD EARLY MORNING FELLOW MOD READERS AND CYBERSPACE FRIENDS, AND
WELCOME TO ALTON'S MESSAGES OF THE DAY FOR THURSDAY, MAY 27, 1999
This morning I will have an interview for a position with an insurance
company. My last insurance employer was American General Insurance
Company. My last pay check stub was dated 6-03-96. That was the last
paycheck stub I could find and that sounds to be about right as the
date of my last check from American General. So my main months of work
with American General were February, March, April and May in 1996.
American General Life Insurance Co
It is now May 1999. So I have been out of the insurance business for
about three years now.
Also, that is about how long I have been on
the internet, because I got on the internet at about the same time I
went to work for American General. Before I worked for American
General I worked for United Insurance Company. The date of my
appointment with United Insurance Company was 9-22-94. My first
paycheck from United was for the period 10-03-94 to 10-09-94. My
mother went into the hospital in Danville on 10-02-94 (Sunday evening).
DRHS
I had gone over to Greensboro that afternoon to return some books to the
library there.
Greensboro Library
I got back sometime around 5 PM, as well as
I remember, and my mother was not at home. I later found out that she had
been taken to the hospital by a rescue vehicle. She was with a friend by
the name of Irene Lumpkin when I left the house.
When I found out
my mother had been taken to the hospital, I rushed down to the hospital
that evening and talked with her in intensive care while she was hooked
up to IV fluids. I talked to Dr. Bosh G. Zakhary that night, who said
she had a heart attack from a clot and he had given her some medicine to
dissolve the clot.
Dr. Zakhary
She seemed to be conscious and talking ok. I
talked to her quite awhile that night.
I went back down to the
hospital early that morning and talked to my mother some more early
that morning about 7 AM. My mother seemed to be very conscious and
talking ok at that time. I had just started to work for United Ins.
Co. and I told my mother I would go ahead and go to work but would
be back that evening.
When I came back from work that evening, a
wreath was on the porch. I rushed back down to the hospital and asked
the nurse, "Where is Mrs Corpening?" The nurse replied, "Mrs. Corpening
expired this morning." To this day I don't know what happened and why
my mother died that morning and whose fault it was. That day was
Monday, October 3, 1994.
It quite often pays to be suspicious and cynical about people.
It is unfortunate that Anne Marie and Jim did not wake up to
the reality of the swindle that was
draining Anne Marie's account of all her money. Anne Marie did not need
to stay in Halifax and let those crooks get all her money using her young
brother Jim and the crooked lawyer as accesories to the crime and
conspiracy. They got took and weren't smart enough to keep enough records
to retaliate if they could have only realized that they were being
overcharged and swindled out of an enormous amount of money because of
the many alternatives they had that might have resulted in much less losses
and expenses.
There is nothing much I can do because of their apathy
toward retaliating against the crooks and the fact they played the fool
in so many situations. You would have to argue that most everything Anne
Marie did that caused her to be a victim of the abductive and swindling
crime was due to her insanity, her schizophrenia, the mind altering drugs
she was on and the dependency she had for those drugs. For example, when
a person is addicted to cigarette smoking, like drugs, they will do most
anything and pay any price to get enough cigarettes to appease their
addiction. The Halifax crooks preyed upon that situation and used young
brother Jim to transfer all Anne Marie's money right into their pockets.
And now poor Anne Marie is out of all her money. So now is the Government
going to support Anne Marie for the rest of her life? Is Jim going to
continue to pay her bills, or how do they think they are going to get
money for Anne Marie's future expenses? I don't think neither Anne Marie
nor Jim thought anything about that when Jim was writing the big checks
for Anne Marie's Halifax abduction and captivity and healthcare fraud.
The crime has been committed and it appears the crooks indeed outsmarted
Anne Marie and her younger brother and there is nothing I, her older
brother, can do about it. Of course, I can write a lot of rambling and
babbling vituperation on the internet, but that won't help enough to get
any of Anne Marie's money back. I hope I can at least write very enlightening
and credible vituperation about a crime in which the crooks triumphed
and the victim(s) lost for education's sake and maybe at least some
lessons can be learned, even if this be a case where the lessons learned
won't be of much value to the victims because of the magnitude of their
losses, which most probably can never be regained.
GOOD MORNING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND WELCOME TO ALTON'S
MESSAGES OF THE DAY FOR TUESDAY, JUNE 26, 2001
As I begin
my mod page for today, I can't think of a lot to write at the
present time.
Here is a page with some links to web pages with the word "PETTIFOGGER"
and links to a few other miscellaneous pages:
Although I don't have time to type much more on my page for today,
I will try to type some insults and derogatory words about the
the crooked pettifogger in Halifax who aided and abetted McLean's
crime by fixing up a power of attorney for a improper person.
This power of attorney was for the purpose of enabling McLean to
swindle all Anne Marie's money while she had Anne Marie imprisoned
at the Mac 'N Rich shack in Halifax, an imprisonment that was very
deleterious and harmful to Anne Marie. Anne Marie was under duress
and was greatly abused during the time she was imprisoned at the
Mac 'N Rich shack.
Gertrude McClean is a short stout nigger about
5' 4" tall who looks like a human hog. She committed a felonious
type criminal act by abducting Anne Marie and holding Anne Marie
at the Mac 'N Rich shack while she was swindling Anne Marie's money.
She used Anne Marie's mentally retarded foolish and stupid young
brother Jim as a stooge and patsy for her crime. She took Jim and
Anne Marie to a crooked pettifogger and fixed up a power of attorney
to allow Jim to sneak down to Anne Marie's bank withdraw Anne Marie's
money and transfer it over to McLean.
